SLS (Simple Localization System) Demo & Challenge
From My Wiki
The Worldwide Lexicon SLS demo is up and running, and we want to do an experiment to see how many languages we can localize the WWL site into. Here's how it works.
1. Go to [marx.metalink.ru] 2. You'll see a list of languages in the upper right, select your language 3. To start localizing page elements, click on the pencil to the right of the list 4. Translatable objects are highlighted in yellow. Click on one, and a popup form appears (the passphrase to write changes is 'isl').
NOTE: this is a beta tool, some pages may not be rendered correctly. Also, when saving changes, pay attention to the selected language. If you switch from one section of the site to another, it may forget your language selection. (Of course, we will fix these issues, but I wanted to demo this today while everyone is still here). Works best in Firefox.
SLS is a standalone PHP library. We'll be releasing this next week as open source. It can be used to enable in situ localization on any PHP based site.
Have fun, and let me know what you think of the tool. - Brian Mc
